The cyanotype process is an old photographic process which was discovered by the astronomer John Herschel in 1842.

The paper is hand coated with a light sensitive solution and dried in a dark room, it is then exposed with a film negative under either a UV light source/the Sun. The print is then washed in fresh water and soaked in a little vinegar or citric acid to help bring the blues out.

The 10x10in print is an original handmade cyanotype image. As each one is individually hand printed they will vary slightly, they are printed on fabriano artistico 300gsm watercolour paper.

The larger print's are made from the original cyanotype, printed on to archival fine art hahnemuhle photorag 308gsm paper. Both papers are 100% cotton, chlorine and acid free.

Print comes unframed with a white border and is signed by me on the border below the image. Please note that the sizes listed are the paper sizes including the border; for example, a 10x10 inch print has a 2 inch border, so the size of the image is 8x8 inch.

The images are carefully wrapped and shipped in a sturdy tube.
